The origins of CEATEC can be traced back to the "Japan Electronics Industry Exhibition", which began in 1962. The CEATEC exhibition consists of four sections: "Television, Radio and Other Audio Equipment", "Radio Equipment including Electronic Application Equipment", "Measuring Instruments" and "Electronic Components", with 207 exhibitors and about 150,000 visitors over 10 days. The show features as a "comprehensive exhibition", showcasing a wide range of topics from parts to finished products, which has been passed down to the present day. In 2000, CEATEC JAPAN merged with COM JAPAN to form CEATEC Japan. In 2007, the show attracted 200,000 visitors, firmly establishing itself as a "comprehensive exhibition of cutting-edge IT and electronics". In 2016, the exhibition transformed into the "CPS/IoT Exhibition", from the electronic components and devices that form the backbone of the Internet of Things to the finished products, devices and services that use these components and devices, and has now become one of the major exhibitions in Japan.
